What is Gramaster?
Gramaster is an application for grammar training that measures your increase in knowledge over time. It can also be used to check your knowledge of a given grammar subject or to practice grammar. In addition, it can be treated as an innovative Internet grammar textbook.
Who is Gramaster for?
Gramaster is an application for all learners of English who need to practice their grammar. Do you have a test on past tenses in three days? Or maybe you don’t understand how modal verbs are used? Find the relevant subject on Gramaster and study using examples. Gramaster is also an excellent application for teachers of English. Have you had enough of leafing through the answer key or checking hundreds of grammar exercises handed in on paper? Ask your students to practice grammar on Gramaster. This will give you more time to discuss the exercises during the class.
Is Gramaster a language course?
Gramaster is not an online English course. Of course, thanks to grammar training you can improve your written or spoken grammar. However, the application will not teach you the language. It is an excellent supplementary tool that will make your adventure with English richer. It may be treated as a part of your language course.
When is DrillLing Method effective?
We guarantee that your grammar will improve if you follow our guidelines. Remember! Focus on one grammar unit at a time! Practice it until your Drill Index has reached the level you consider satisfactory. Only then should you start practicing another unit. Remember to skillfully incorporate grammar drilling into your language course. Organize your schedule! Get motivated!
Where should I start?
It is best to start with the grammar unit you find most difficult or the one you are currently discussing on your English course. You should choose the level (A, B, or C) that best fits your proficiency. However, remember that intermediate students are often behind with basic knowledge. It may be beneficial for you to go through the material from level A even if your proficiency is level B.
What do levels A, B, and C mean?
These are simplified levels corresponding to the system applied by many institutions that grant language certificates. If you look at them, you will notice that most are divided into three fluency levels: A - beginner, B - intermediate, and C - advanced.
How do I use grammar units?
Find a grammar unit that interests you. The units have been arranged in alphabetical order. If you have a problem with grammar terms, consult a textbook or ask your teacher. When studying English, it is impossible not to encounter such terms as comparative adjectives or quantifiers. You can also look up a particular form – each grammar unit provides examples.
When does my Drill Index go up?
The increase in your Drill Index depends on many factors such as improving your score from a given grammar unit, time devoted to training, regularity, and repetitiveness. You will notice that at the beginning your Drill Index goes up fast, before stabilizing or even dropping. The most important things are to drill regularly and try to get the highest score you can from a given unit.
When does my Drill Index go down?
Your Drill Index will go down if your score from a given unit is lower than your best score from that unit. What is more, Drill Index takes into account lack of training, so if you neglect your exercises, after some time your Drill Index will drop. However, it will happen only after the first test you take after the break. Knowledge and skills become devalued over time.
How much time do I have to give an answer?
You have 15 seconds for each answer. The answer time was set after many tests conducted on a trial group. Those of you who may consider this time too short will notice that over time you start reacting faster and giving better answers. That is, among other things, what learning through drilling is about.
Why does the answer time decrease?
If you notice that you have less time to answer questions than before, it means that your score was high enough for the system to upgrade the level by limiting the answer time.
Why are there 10 questions in one test?
10 different, random contexts allow you to quickly become familiar with a given grammar competence. What is more, it is easier to devote three minutes to a drill and repeat it after some time than spend half an hour studying a grammar book.
What is The Challenge?
The Challenge is a cross-section grammar training. It consists in undergoing a test composed of mixed, already practised categories. This training has a clear objective: our brain learns how to function in a mixed context. We can compare improving grammar to a sports training: practising within one category is like perfecting technique, and The Challenge is like taking part in a tournament, testing time.
When is The Challenge activated?
If the button Accept The Challenge is inactive, it means that you are not ready. You can accept a challenge if your Drill Index reaches over 6000 in at least five grammatical categories. In a sense, The Challenge is an award for good results in particular grammar sections and an incentive to practise grammar in the mixed context.
